888 Holdings Post Strong Q2 Results

888 Holdings, the major online gaming corporation that runs various gaming and gambling sites including online bingo, has reported excellent results fro the second quarter of 2008 thanks in large part to the bingo site. They are also reporting similarly positive results for the first few weeks of the third quarter again citing their bingo arm as well as their online poker and sportsbook arms as the big movers.

Operating income rose by 36% from $51m (approx £25m) to $69m (approx £35m) and the company are now able to boast more than 210,000 online poker and casino players on their ever expanding books. They are understandably confident that this growth and improvement will continue in the coming months and right throughout the year.

Many online bingo sites have seen huge increases in recent months with the UK being the leading light in the development of this online industry. This growth has been spurred on largely by the unfortunate deterioration in numbers of high street bingo players. This, in turn, was caused by the smoking ban as well as dwindling profits because of new slot machine laws and a dodgy case of double taxation against bingo operators.
