Argentinean bingo player still fighting for the right of her huge jackpot:

Written by: Nikola Zugic on 09/01/2008 04:00

Veronica Baena was a regular player of bingo; and last year, she had hit the huge jackpot of 7.6 million euros while playing the game. She had then played bingo in the Lomas Del Mirador gaming hall.

However, she has not been lucky enough to get the money for even after twelve months, she and her husband are fighting in court for the right of her money. Their fight is against Codere, the company that owns the bingo hall.

Instead of paying her her entire winnings, they have last offered to pay her 110,000 euros, where the offer was rejected by Veronica.

Veronica’s husband, Angel Lopez said that they had so far received only 8,000 euros from Codere, which they had to accept because of their daily expenses. They had accepted the money, and signed a receipt, only as an advance of the judgment from the court.

Veronica had filed the claim on September 25th after she realized the company had no intentions to pay her. Moreover, there was no agreement that was reached during mediation hearings.

However since then, Codere has increased the prize money to 110,000 euros, which was rejected by Veronica, as confirmed by Angel.

The company claims that it was due to a ‘malfunction’ of the machine that the prize was granted. According to them, the highest jackpot they offered was 7,600 euros, which the company has already granted to the family.

However Veronica states that she is ready to fight to the end to claim the prize that is rightfully hers.
