The electronic bingo sites at the greyhound tracks of Mobile and Birmingham had aimed at getting legalized. However it was because the Alabama House was reluctant at considering this legalizing bill, northing actually materialized.
If the bill was passed, then the tax revenue that was generated from bingo games would have increased and in the process, helped in funding the state’s cash strapped Medicaid agency.
However, the sponsor of the bingo bill, Representative Marcel Black is greatly disappointed that the proposal is not considered. The disappointment is mainly because of the lots of hard work was put into the bingo bill. In its midst, lots of distortions and half truths of people who were against the bingo bill turned up instead.
According to him, the greatest disappointment is that members usually decide based on matters like this, without actually reading the bingo bill there are others who read some of the major newspapers found in the state that wrote editorials against the bingo bill, without the introduction of the bingo bill.
However, all this does not imply that the bill is dead. This is because Representative Black contends on bringing up the matter again, before the session is over.
