Bingo winner lucky in a way she never thought possible at Mecca

Most people don’t really expect to suffer a heart attack when they play either online bingo or when they play at a local bingo hall, their expectation may be to be lucky enough to have a win. However Sandra Andrews was at her local Mecca Bingo Club in Brierley Hill when she became suddenly unwell, and unknown to the other players and her sister who had accompanied her she was in fact suffering from a cardiac arrest. Luckily for Sandra a local paramedic on his day off was just dropping his wife at the Mecca bingo hall when he realised that his services were urgently needed. Lee Farley quickly realised that there was a potentially life threatening situation happening and leapt into action. Lee was joined in his emergency treatment of Sandra by an off duty nurse who was also at the Meccca Bingo Hall at the time.

The pair battled to assist the now very poorly Sandra until they were joined by three other emergency medical staff, Stuart Ross, jon Winall and Rebecca Ross. The group performed emergency cardio pulmonary Resuscitation, and while all the drama was enfolding the local bingo players made sure they did not get in the way by continuing with their bingo game. The decision was eventually made to transfer Sandra by ambulance to the local hospital; unfortunately on the journey Sandra required electric shock treatment three times to her heart. The team worked so hard administering CPR whilst travelling in the ambulance and eventually their fortitude paid off as Sandra was breathing once more by the time they arrived at the hospital. Lucky Sandra has spent four weeks recovering and was well enough to visit Lee to thank him for his quick thinking last Friday.
