Is the world not ready for Bingo TV?

News of the demise of ITV's late-night bingo show Bingo Night Live has caught many in the marketplace slightly off guard as there had been rumours of a second series for the interactive bingo show. The series itself lasted for 99 shows and there were 330 bingo games played in total between June and November this year. Initially ITV had expressed an interest in commissioning a second series but once the number of shows fell from 5 a week to 3 a week there were some who knew that the writing was on the wall.

The show was originally presented by ex-glamour model Melinda Messenger but she was later replaced by other presenters as the production company looked to reduce costs. It seems as though the viewing figures started to dwindle towards the end and made the operation untenable on a longer-term basis.

However Bingo Night Live has left a mark on the online bingo industry with the largest ever online bingo jackpot of £60,500 which went to Michael from Margate back in October. The show may be gone but it certainly will not be forgotten having paved the way for Bingo TV of the future.
