Maltese Online Gambling To Retain Open Borders

Written by: Nikola Zugic on 29/05/2008 16:00

Maltese online bingo probably isn't something you find yourself musing over too often, I wouldn't have thought. And yet, here we are with two snippets of news that, in one form or another, relate to that very topic. OK, so the second snippet might be quite tenuous but there we go.

First off the bat, the European Commission (EC) has praised the professionalism of the Malta Gaming Authority. Charlie McCreevy of the EC also stated that he would ensure that EU law on open borders for online gaming would be enforced. This is good news for a booming industry – the Maltese online gaming industry now employs about 1,500 people in the industry and own several companies and online operations.

The other news is that Bertil.com, a Malta licensed online gaming operator was the secret bidder for Net Entertainment's Casino Module product. The Casino Module will be added to the NYX Interactive System that Bertil already uses. The outcome will be an online casino called Bertil's Tivoli.

It's reported that Bertil chose the Net Entertainment software because of how well it does integrate into existing software and systems to create a bigger and more expansive online gaming platform.
